  BASTEDO, Dr. Donald Lou Alexander Died September 1, 2006, at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, following a stroke.Don was the beloved husband of Sally Caroline (Breithaupt); beloved father of Mary Louise of Richmond Hill, Paul Alexander (Ellen) of Huntsville, Frank Louis (Helen) of Mount Forest and James Donald (Brenda Hans) of Yellowknife, NWT; beloved grandfather of Clare, Patrick, Tim, Cecilia, Sonya, Peter, Jacob, Jaya and Nimisha. Predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy and Jean Anne, both of St. Catharines; survived by his brother, Edgar (Ted) of Oshawa.After graduating from University of Toronto Medical School in 1946 and completing a residency in Pediatrics at Sick Children's Hospital in 1950, Dr. Bastedo was a much loved pediatrician for countless children and their parents in Kitchener-Waterloo from 1950 until 1990. Past president of the Kitchener Rotary Club and founding member of the K-W Unitarian Church. A great pianist, he played piano at Probus Club and was an enthusiastic supporter of the K-W Symphony.A Memorial Service will be held at Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Wednesday, September 6 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception.Donations in his memory can be directed to Grand River Hospital Foundation or K-W Alzheimer Society through www.ratzbechtelfuneralhome.com (519-745-9495).
