Of King Street, Cambridge, on Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at his residence, in his 68th year. Dear father of Tammy Matthews and her husband Chris of London. Survived by four brothers, Raymond of Kitchener, George of Cambridge, Dan and Mike, both of New Waterford, Cape Breton; six sisters, Shirley Melski of Brantford, Mary Gillis, Tessy White, Willena Cameron, all of New Waterford, Cape Breton, Ann Moore of New Glasglow, N.S. and Gerry O'Connor of Pickering and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Helen Gillis. Mr. Gillis was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton and had been a resident of the area for most of his adult life. He was a member of St. Clement's RC Church and an active volunteer in the community. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, on Sunday, from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 10 a.m. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery, Cambridge.
