- Obituary - Funeral service was held last Monday for Edna Miller. She died April 17, 1992, at Groves hospital. She was 80. The reverend Mark Waugh officiated at the funeral service. She was the wife of George Piercey; mother of Joyce (Mrs. Percy Watt), of Fergus, and Marlene (Mrs. Al Macklam), of New Hamburg; sister of Victor, Elmer, Marie Bowman, Garry, and Ted; also survived by six grandchildren: Sandra, Barry, Glenna, Michael, Paul, and Beverlee, and 15 great-grandchildren; predeceased by a son, George Piercey, and one grandson, Brian. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Barry Watt, Steve Morrison, Nathan Rudyk, Garry Lachance, Paul Macklam, and Mike Macklam. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Elora United church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Mrs. Piercey was an active member for many years of the Cumnoch and Elora women's institutes, Elora United church women, and Elora United church. She sang with the New Horizons and enjoyed quilting. She had made a home for many young people, and enjoyed others and often entertained family, friends and neighbours. She was a lover of nature and enjoyed quiet moments gardening and caring for flowers. She loved travelling and enjoyed camping. As well, she enjoyed working with the elderly at Wellington Terrace, giving countless hours as a volunteer, and late working on a full-time basis.
