      Peacefully, at St. Mary's General Hospital, on Wednesday, June 14, 2000, age 82 years and was a resident of Waterloo.

      Lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, John Salter Askin; her children, Lesslie Ann Askin and John Blackwood Askin; daughter-in-law, Joanne Mari Voisin; grandchildren Chandra Lesslie Corriveau and Elizabeth Louise (Libby) Askin and great-grandchildren, Dyami and Hannah Corriveau.

      Predeceased by her first husband, P.O. Harold Burridge, RAF and her parents, Lesslie Blackwood and the former Ethel McBride.

      She served in the CWAC in the Second World War.

      Betty was a talented painter in oils and watercolours; she had mastered the art of Chinese lacquer work. She enjoyed gardening and golf and was an accomplished curler for many years. A former member of K-W Granite Club and Westmount Golf and Curling Club. Betty taught elementary school in Galt and continuation grades at St. Mary's High School.

      Cremation with a private family burial to follow.

      A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2000, from 4-6 p.m. from the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St S., Waterloo.

      As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
