- MISS ELIZABETH BURNETT
Many people in Galt and throughout the surrounding district will regret to hear of the death this morning of Elizabeth (Bessie) Burnett who passed away at Galt hospital after a long period of illness. She was in her 69th, year Miss Burnett was born at the Burnett homestead on the ninth concession, the farm now occupied by Wm. Falkiner.
Twenty eight years ago she came. to Galt with her parents, the late Arthur and Mary Burnett. For 10 years Miss Burnett was Matron at the Y. M. C.A., leaving this position about 1924. There are Many young. men in Galt today who in their connection with. the Y. M. C. A., remember her as a person with a lovely personality and a keen. sense of humor, one who had, an appreciation for any fun they indulged in.
She was a member of Knox's Presbyterian church, and was known there as an active worker in the ladies' aid society, and a member of the missionary society. She was also connected as a worker with Lincoln avenue church. She is described by friends As a great lover of her church.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Ferguson, 21 Wellington street, and Mrs. Thomas Oliver, 21 Rose street. Funeral service will be held on Monday from the residence of her sister, Mrs. Thomas Oliver, to Mount View. cemetery, Rev. Dr. J. D. Smart will be in charge of the service.
