- ELTON SAUDER, lumberman dies at 85
Funeral will be held Thursday for lumberman Elton L. (Fred) Sauder, who died Monday at 85. Mr. Sauder was born in Ontario and moved to Vancouver in 1925 after being general manager of a Winnipeg paint and glass firm.
He founded the E. L. Sauder Lumber Co. Ltd. here shortly afterward.
The firm became a leading Western Canada manufacturer and distributor finished lumber and interiors.
Mr. Sauder was a long-time member of Vancouver Kiwanis Club and supported charitable and educational activities in B.C.
FAMILY: His wife, Margaret; a son William, and a daughter, Mrs. Murray MacKenzie, all of Vancouver.
SERVICE: Thursday, 2:30 p.m., Shaughnessy Heights United Church.

SAUDER - Passed away July 8, 1968, in hospital, Elton Lawrence (Fred) Sauder, of 1830 Morton St. Survived by his loving wife, Margaret; son, William; daughter, Mrs. Murray MacKenzie; stepson Donald Parker, California; stepdaughter Mrs. M. Sribney, Hamden, Conn.: 19 grandchildren and 1 great grand-child; brother, Penrose Sauder, Lethbridge, Alta., and sister. Mrs. A. W. Albiston, Michigan. Memorial service Thursday, July 11 at 2:30 p.m. in Shaughnessy Heights United Church, 33rd Ave. and Granville St. Rev. G. D. Wilkie, D.D., officiating. Flowers gratefully declined, Nunn & Thomson funeral directors.
