      BRANTFORD - Mrs. James Thomas, of 111 Dufferin Ave., died early today at Brantford General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 78. The former Ernmaretta Leah Unger, a daughter of pioneer parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Unger, she was born at Mannheim and had lived in Preston for many nears before moving to Brantford, She was house-keeper for the late Hugh Howie, of Dufferin avenue until his death four years ago. She was a Brantford resident for 18 years. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Brant avenue United Church, Brantford. She was an active church worker and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Surviving is one stepson, James Thomas, Kitchener, one brother Joseph Unger of Wickenburg Ariz.: seven sisters, Mrs. Lean Hurst,Winnipeg, Mrs. Verda Campbell, San Francisco, Mrs. Edna James, Vancouver, Mrs. Allan Reickart, Kitchener, Mrs. Isabel Ford, Seattle, Mrs. Carl Ott, Syracuse, N.Y. and Mrs. Melissa Wilkins, Mount Pleasant. The body is at the H. K. Stager Funeral Home where the service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery. Rev. Arthur Kewley, minister of Brant avenue United Church, Brantford, will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. H. Y. Herlihey, of St Paul's United Church, Preston.
