    • An Amateur Fisherman Drowned.

      PORT ELGIN, Sept. 20.-A sad drowning accident occurred here yesterday forenoon off the breakwater. Frederick Thede, a very respectable retired farmer residing here, left his home about 8 o'clock to fish off the breakwater, from which he in some unknown-way fell into the lake and was drowned. He was not missed until towards evening. His body was found by grappling this morning.

      Drowning Accident at Port Elgin.

      PORT ELGIN, Sept. 20. -A drowning accident occurred here yesterday forenoon off the breakwater. Mr. Frederick Thede, very respectable retired farmer residing here, left his home about 8 o'clock to fish off the breakwater, from which he, in some unknown way, fell in the lake and was drowned. He was not missed until towards evening. His body was found by grappling this morning.
