Notes |
- DRURY, WALKER HERBERT was born in 1880 in Dalston, Ont. He graduated from McGill University in 1909 and was licensed to practice in Wisconsin in 1910. He obtained degrees in public health from Harvard in 1917, and Yale in 1920. He appears to have practised in Pepin, Wisconsin for some years. He served during the war at the quarantine station at Victoria, examining the Chinese coolies who passed through on the way to France.
In December 1920 he came to Kitchener, and according to the Daily Telegraph of December 7, he "fitted the 'Heller Studio' at 79 Queen St. N. opposite Roy St. as an office."
As a cousin of Premier Drury he presumably had instant status, which was probably enhanced by his postgraduate degrees
In April 1923 he addressed the Rotary Club suggesting that a local health commission be formed to assess the elevated infant mortality in this area. This was the last mention of him, and in that year he returned to Wisconsin, to a place called Wanderoos, population 110.
He was reported to have died in a Minneapolis hospital on December 23, 1930.
