- HENRICH, Gordon Oscar - Kitchener, passed away suddenly, in his 88th year, September 30, 2006. Born August 3, 1919 in his home at Herbert and Union St., attended Elizabeth Ziegler and Kitchener Collegiate Institute. Veteran of Second World War, Essex Scotish Regiment, member of Canadian Legion Branch 530 Waterloo. Fought in the trenches and drove a jeep at Juno Beach. Injured twice in his five years of service. Gord was proud of his time spent in the military. Worked as a lead hand at Bauer Skate for 41 years. Married Annie (Donty McDonald) on Oct. 10, 1946. They remained loving partners for 57 years until she passed away.Predeceased by his parents, Elton and Ida; brothers, Earl, Herb and Harold. Survived by his sister-in-laws and brother-in-law, Harold and Lyle Frier, Stratford, Joanne Henrich, Michigan, and Georgina McDonald, Nova Scotia. Nieces and nephews, Paulette and Jim Micak; children, Andrew, Kate and Jesse and poppy to Karen and Carl Vance, children Sarah, Jeff and Eric and other nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. Until recently he did his 5BX exercises and drove his car daily. He attended many hockey, water polo, soccer games and dance competitions/shows throughout Ontario. A social butterfly, enjoyed parties and chatting with neighbours on his front porch. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Saturday, October 7, at 10: 30 a.m. Reception to follow at Waterloo Canadian Legion, Branch 530. Donations to KW Poppy Fund, 21 Regina St., N., N2J 2Z9.
