- Goodwin, Grace - It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of their loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Grace, on Friday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, after a valiant fight with cancer. Loving wife for 58 years of Roy. Much loved mother of Carol Ann Schieckoff and her husband Ken of Mallory Beach, Wiarton; Beth Romahn and her husband Bill, Penny Battler and her husband John and Peggy Daynard and her husband Brian; proud grandmother of Valerie and Mark Dreisinger, Troy and Wendy Schieckoff, Mark and Shelley Daynard, Trevor Daynard, Tori and Dan Ryder and Michael Romahn; cherished great-grandmother of Brandon, Matthew, Jordan, Carly, Bentley, Robyn, Tyson, Holden and Cassie, who brought her so much joy. Grandma Grace will be watching from above over a tenth little miracle due in March. Survived by her dear sister, Marjorie Davidson of Stratford and special friend, Eugene Scott. Edythe Florella Grace Gowing was born February 6, 1915 in Glen Allan. Predeceased by her parents, Wellington and Edna (Jones) Gowing; her sister, Dorcas Davidson; sister-in-law, Loreen Goodwin; brothers-in-law, John and David Davidson and Clifford (Kip) Goodwin. Grace will be remembered for her zest for life, positive attitude, those fabulous knitted dishcloths, her love of music and a good game of Solo. She was a member of Highland road United Church. At Grace's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in Celebration of Grace's Life will be held at Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S., (corner of Westmount Road), 743-8900 on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at 2 pm, Rev. Katharine Edmonstone officiating. Remains will be interred in Glen Allan Cemetery at a future date. For those who wish, donations in Grace's memory to Highland Road United Church would be gratefully accepted. "Remember Not That She Died but That She Lived"
