REV. GROTKE TO OFFICIATE; BURIAL IN GREENWOOD CEMETERY
Last rites for Gustav E. Hildebrand, prominent Wheeling business man who died Monday morning, will be held Thursday. The services will take place af two o'clock that afternoon at the family home, 1720 Jacob street. Rev. A, C. E. Grotke, pastor of the Zion Lutheran church wilf officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Mr. Hildebrand, who was 72 years of age, had been in falling health for the past two years.
Mr. Hildebrand was born May 7, 1858 at Wilmot Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Christian and Wilhemina Hildebrand. He came to Wheeling in 1885.
Some years later Mr. Hildebrand associated himself with C. W. Bruemmer to form the firm of Bruemmer and Hildebrand, which business was started in a small one-room store. It is now one of the most flourishing furniture and undertaking establishments in this part of the state.
Mr. Hildebrand was a member of Bridgeport lodge, No. 185, A. F A. & A. M. & S. R., consistory, No. 1: Herman lodge. A. O. U. W.: Black Prince lodge, No. 19, Knights of Pythias. For a quarter of a century he was Master of Finance of the Black Prince lodge, resigning that position seven years ago.
He was a devout member of the Zion Lutheran church. Mr. Hildebrand'a wife, the former Miss Louisa Mehlmann, died January first of this year. They were united in marriage June 15, 1882 by Rev. Otto Meerwein at the Zion Lutheran church.
Mr. Hildebrand was one of the organizers of the Wheeling Association of Funeral directors. Surviving are one son. Howard
Hildebrand, of Martina Ferry. O.; two daughters. Mrs. Albert J. Ken and Mrs. Alex S. Gibb, both of Wheeling, and two sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Mahimann and Mrs. F. D. Friedrich, both of Wheeling.
