  • Notes
    • Pioneer Minister Dies.

The death of Rev. Henry T. Bourne at his home in Galt has removed a man who was truly a pioneer of the Gospel. Having fitted himself for the Church of England ministry, he entered the missionary field among the Sloux Indians at Prince Albert, Sask., in 1878. Five years later he went to Alberta, and continued his work among the Blackfoot tribe, near Fort McLeod. Here he built the first Indian school. In 1891 he came to Haliburton. Ont. and in 1903 retired and took up his residence in Galt. His wife, two sons and a daughter survive.
