    • The funeral was conducted May 20 for Herbert Stemmler, 74, who died May 18 at Listowel Hospital.

      The service was held at St. Marys RC Church, Hesson, with Rev. Leo Lariviere officiating. Prayers were said at the McLaughlin and Reed Funeral Home, Listowel, prior to the service.

      Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Hesson.

      Born In Hesson Nov. 4, 1892, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stemmler. He farmed in the Fernbank district for 46 years. He was a member of St. Marys RC Church, Hesson, and a member of the Holy Name Society.

      His marriage to Annie Kupfer-Sclunidt took place in Deemerton, Ont., June 18, 1918, She survives, with eight sons, Clayton and Oscar of Brantford, Melvin of RR 1, Brit-ton, Herbert Jr. and Gordon in Kitchener, Orville of Grand Prairie, Alta., Elwood of Hamilton and Delford in Woodstock; two daughters, Mrs. Alex (Uneeta) Biesinger, RR1, Britton, Mrs. Nelson (Ester) Kurt of Bridgeport; five brothers, Eugene Steinmler, Guelph, Serphine and Anthony both of Kitchener, Simon of Hesson and Albert, Wallenstein; two sisters, Mrs. Alex Schnarr of Waterloo and Mrs. Charles Hammer of Kitchener: 44 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
