Notes |
- KIRSTEN, H. R. Most of the information on this man is found in his interesting card which appeared in the Berliner Journal on March 12, 1863, under the heading New Doctor in Waterloo Village
H. R. Kirsten, Doctor of Medicine, of the University of Berlin, qualified by the Medical College of Montreal as Physician, Surgeon, and Accoucheur, formerly a physician for several years in the English civil service on the African Island of Mauritius, announces herewith to the German and English Public that he has taken up permanent residence in Waterloo Village,
The newspaper carried this card for seven months, until October 15, 1863, and recommended him as a qualified physician.
The next source was the Archives of the American Medical Association, which said that he was listed as practising in St. Jacob, Illinois, in 1886, with no notice after that time.

Charles P. C. Kirsten, a clerk at the Hotel Rozier, died at his home, 1903 Sullivan avenue, yesterday morning of heart disease. Kirsten arose about 6:30 o'clock yesterday morning, and was going into the basement for breakfast when he fell to the bottom of the stairway. Miss Emma Kirsten, his sister, went to his assistance, and found him dead. Dr. H. R. Kirsten, father of the deceased, notified the Coroner, and an inquest was held over the remains yesterday morning.
