  Hugh L. Melvin Hugh Leslie Melvin, a, resident of Ayr for over 70 years, passed away in Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 15th. He was in his 85th year. Born in St. George, he was a son of the late Albert Robertson Melvin and the former Mary Hoggarth. The family moved to Ayr in the early 1900's. Mr. Melvin joined the Ayr News as a linotype operator in 1925 and continued for over 50 years until retiring in 1978. Surviving are two brothers Albert of Ayr and David of Stratford. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Agnes in 1925. Funeral service was held at Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt, on Tuesday with interment in Ayr Cemetery.
