Notes |
- Mrs. Isabelle C. Lackner
Mrs. Isabella C. Lackner, relict of the late Frederick G. Lackner, and one of the oldest residents of Hawkesville, passed away at the home of her son, Graham Lackner, in Windsor on Saturday after an illness of only a few days duration. Mrs. Lackner spent the winter months with her son in Windsor, and was in apparently good health until about four days before her death. She was born in Bridgeport on May 29, 1843 and was in her 81st year. Mrs. Lackner, whose maiden name was Isabella Alderton, was the daughter of James Alderton of Bridgeport, and a granddaughter of the late Col. Robert Land of Hamilton, Ontario. She was married to Mr. Lackner about 55 years ago, and had spent practically all her life in Hawkesville. Mr. Lackner predeceased his wife on November 25, 1903. Three sons, Frederick Charles of Hawkesville, George Leo of Toronto and Graham of Windsor, and nine grandchildren survive. The eldest son, Herbert James, predeceased his mother in 1913.
The funeral which was largely attended was held on Tuesday afternoon from the residence of her son Frederick C. Lackner at Hawkesville, the services being conducted by rev. Stewart of the Presbyterian Church of that place. Interment was made in the Sand Hill Cemetery. The pall-bearers, all old friends of the deceased, were Messrs. Jacob Huhn, George Hufner, August Ahrens, Curry Tanner, Albert Ludwig and David Donald. Numerous and beautiful floral tributes were received from Windsor and Hawkesville friends, as a token of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
