- J. S. Kummer I Dies At Home
Jacob S. (Jack) Kummer Sr., 89, of 239 19th Ave., Longview, who drove the first nail in construction of the Weyerhaeuser Co. mill here, died at his home Saturday.
Mr. Kummer, a retired carpenter and held No. 1 badge for Weyerhaeuser. He and his wife celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last November. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of Carpenters Union, Local 1707. Mr. Kummer came to Longview from Great Falls, Mont., 1925. He had held all offices in the Pythian Lodge in Sand Coulee, Mont.
Survivors include his widow, Mary J.: three daughters, Mrs. Agnes McClary and Mrs. Hazel Klingberg, both Longview, and Mrs. Elma Glover, Vancouver; four sons, Grant Albany, Ore., Arnold E., Lake Oswego, William A., Portland, and Jacob S. Jr., Kelso; a sister, Mrs. Rose Wassman, Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, Oliver, Preston, Ont.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2. p.m. at the Steele Chapel, the Rev. Arthur Wulf officiating. Interment will be in Longview Memorial Park. I.
