  Obituary for Jean Audrey Rockel With incredible sadness, the family of Jean Audrey Rockel (nee Eisler) of Waterloo, announce her passing on Thursday September 9, 2021, at the age of 90 after a long and happy life. Jean was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2012 after 61 years of marriage and adventure together. Jean is survived by her five much loved children and their spouses; Mark, Jeff (Claudia), Dale (Silvia), Melanie Eberlin (Mark), Todd (Stephanie). Treasured Nanny and Grandma to Amy (Maureen), Krysta, Steven (Megan), Kaleena, Marissa and Danica. Great Grandma to Emerson, Scarlette and Everett, and Ayla, Beckett and Ashton. She leaves behind her sister Ruth (of Hamilton) and sister in law Gem Eisler of Vancouver, plus cousins and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Emma (nee Siemon) and Edwin Eisler, her brothers Glen and Harold, and by her sister Shirley Koblik. Born in Logan Township near Stratford, Mom grew up on a farm and often spoke of it, her country adventures and her beloved dog Shebby. The family eventually moved to Hamilton, then after marriage, Mom moved to Waterloo where she lived the rest of her life. Mom travelled the world with our father which included many business trips, family trips, and with friends. Their love for travel was a highlight of their lives for so many years. Some favourites were Hong Kong, Iceland, Alaska, New Zealand. They went on an incredible 48 Cruises (and River Cruises too) but if you ask her, Moms top favourite was Hawaii which she visited nine or ten times. After Dads passing, she continued to travel with us as a family to the Carribbean, and one more cruise from California to Hawaii. These are treasured memories for us. Mom attended Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 70 years. Mom and Dad loved Square Dancing. They made so many friends with the various clubs they danced at for decades. Friday and Saturday nights were made for dancing and they loved it. Mom also was a champion bowler as long as we can remember. If you knew our Mom, you knew she was very social and thrived on events and activities with friends and family. She loved to play cards, and was an avid Bridge and Solo player with various groups. She enjoyed Wednesday lunch and cards with her good friend Marlene Wolff, and her daughter and daughter in law. Euchre, SkipBo, Hand and Foot, Rummy, Scrabble, Bingo, and Yahtzee, Bocce Ball were just some of the regular games she played. She still drove her car, cooked her own meals, and lived independently at Luther Village on the Park in her own condo. She loved it there and had so many friends she treasured from all her activities there and around town. She did not sit still if something was going on, did not want to miss anything. She loved the family cottage at Belwood Lake, and had just spent a week there with the entire family before falling ill. Moms family and grandkids and great grandkids were most important to her, and she never missed a family event. These were everything for her. Mom, we will miss you more than words could ever express. Life just won't be the same without you in it. Your smile, kindness, laughter, your good sense of humour, and most of all your deep beautiful love for us and us for you, will carry us through. You loved life and it showed. Rest in Peace Mom. Jean's family will receive relatives and friends from 5 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener. A private funeral service will be held at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
