- GINGERICH, Jean Emma December 17, 1926 - June 3, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce that our dear mother, Jean Emma Gingerich, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Saviour on June 3, 2016 at the age of 89. Predeceased by Richard Allan Gingerich, her beloved husband of 62 years, Jean was the loving mother of five: Mark (Jane), Peter, John (Martha), Wendy Gibbard and Matthew (Sandy); devoted grandma of eight: Michael, Rachael, Sarah, Julia, Emily, Scott, Patricia and James; Great-nana of nine: Eric, Megan, Natalie, Geena, Emma, Zachary, Cordelia, Cedric and Ada; and, aunt to many nieces and nephews. Born in Kitchener, Ontario to the late Herbert Cater and the late Alma Cater, she was predeceased by her older sister Mary Kuehnbaum. Jean moved to Ottawa in 1971 where she lived until her passing. She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Ottawa. Before moving to Ottawa, Jean attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church and St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Kitchener. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 7: 00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish do so, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated. A memorial celebration for family and friends in the Kitchener-Waterloo area will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 2: 00 p.m. in the Salon Room at the Courtyard Waterloo St. Jacobs, 50 Benjamin Road, Waterloo, Ontario. The family wishes to thank the staff at Prince of Wales Manor, 22 Barnstone Drive, Nepean, for the care provided and kindness shown our mother during the nearly five years that she lived there.
