- EAGLE, JOHN MARVIN
The funeral of Mr. Eagle, who passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 1932, after an illness of some months, was held Friday afternoon at his home in Puslinch Township, with Rev. I. M. Moyer, pastor of the United Church officiating, to Hespeler Cemetery. Pallbearers: Wilson Robertson, William J. Little, William Eagle, C. R. Bond, all of Puslinch; George Metcalf of Guelph and James Eagle of Hamilton. The late Mr. Eag le was born in North Dumfries Township, 72 years ago. He came with his parents to a farm east of Puslinch Lake, when 12 years old, and resided there the rest of his life, taking over the farm when his father, Elijah Eagle, retired to Hespeler. Mr. Eagle took a great interest in the affairs of the district. He could recall many interesting incidents of the earlier days in the township. He was well known and held in high esteem in the district. He was member of the Hespeler United Church, being one of the trustees. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Ann Ireland and three children: Lee of Melfort, SK; Bertha (Mrs. Ernest Arnett), of Naisbery (or Mayberry - varying reports), SK; Arthur of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Wellington Ellis in the west; and a brother, David in Windsor. One son, Leslie, was killed overseas during the Great War.
-Information from the death certificate: Born on December 25, 1859, son of Elijah Eagle and Louisa Adams. Died on January 12, 1932.
