  Mr. J. A. Schroder, came to Elmira, with his parents when quite young. He received his education here and after having worked at his trade several years in other places, he returned to Elmira and opened business on his own account. He has now an up-to-date Gents' furnishing establishment in which he keeps for sale a full line of tweeds, gents' furnishings, hats and caps, ready-made clothing etc. He makes a specialty of custom tailoring and has a good patronage. [Name of the store was J. A. Schroder, Men's Outfitter; it was in the same building as F. W. Lipphardt, Barber.] Enterprising Elmira Souvenir, An historical, descriptive, and illustrated Book of the Village of Elmira, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, published by George Klinck, 1903. ___________________________ John A. Schroder, Lifelong Resident, Buried Saturday Funeral service for John Anderson Schroder, manager of the Great West Felt Co. Ltd. until his retirement in 1945, was held at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel at 3pm Saturday. Rev. C. L. Mitchell officiated. Pall-bearers were Dr. James Schroder, Guelph, Lloyd Snider, Elmira, David Dattels, Kitchener, R. P. Uffelman, Waterloo, Kenneth Moses, Elmira, and L. E. O'Neill, Elmira. Burial was made in the Elmira Cemetery. Mr. Schroder, who lived at 10 Queen Street, died at the K-W Hospital last Thursday night. He was in his 81st year. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Levi Schroder, he was born in Elmira in May, 1868 and lived here all his life. Mr. Schroder was known as "Andy" by his many friends and business acquaintances. He was in the tailoring business and operated a men's furnishings store in Elmira before joining the Great West Felt Company. He was a member of Gale Presbyterian Church. His wife predeceased him. He is survived by two sons, Charles and Harold of Toronto; a daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Margaret) Miller of Brantford; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Weber of Elmira; and there are two grandchildren.
