WHITLA - Dr. John Cardy passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Friday December 16, 1988 of 21 Aberdeen Rd. South in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Anne Ellis and dear brother of Stewart of Cambridge. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Dr. Whitla was born on January 2, 1902 at Newtonards, Northern Ireland and has been a residence of Cambridge since 1912. Was a retired physician and was a graduate of the Toronto University Medical School and practiced in Galt until retirement. A member of First United Church, a chartered member of the Lions Club and chartered member of the Civic Service Club, former member of the Galt Country Club and was active in local sports. Resting at Coutts' and Son Funeral Home 96 St. Andrews St., where the family will receive friends on Sunday 2-4. Funeral and committal services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday December 19th at 2 p.m. with Rev. R. Fretwell officiating. Interment Trinity Anglican Cemetery. As expression of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the Tamily. A reception will follow at Counts Reception Cottage.
