Notes |
- Guelph, and later in Stratford where he was one of the leading citizens.
He had been an assistant surgeon in the Royal Navy, and in in moving from Hamilton to Waterloo he became the first medical man in that community. Whether or not he had practised there, it was his qualifications in this field which caused John Galt to enlist his services in Guelph in 1829.
He engaged in practise there, but as he became more involved in Canada Company matters, he gradually relinquished that practice.
Further investigation is needed to establish the extent of his medical activities in Waterloo.
An account of his career is found in the Guelph Historical Society report volume XXI, July 1982.
