- J. Hubert Sherk
J. Hubert Sherk, 64, of 2993 King St., East, died suddenly, at his home, Wednesday, from a heart attack. Born in Port Elgin, he had farmed for many years at Centreville. He was a member of Bethany United Misionary Church and was senior deacon, class leader of the church for many years and Sunday school superintendent and teacher. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Sherk, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Lydia Troxel, Feb. 10, 1946 and by his second wife, the former Mary Dodd. He is survived by his third wife, the former Florence Laing: four sons, Rev. J. Harold of Hyattsville, Md.; Eldon T., RR 1, Platteville: W. Floyd of New Dundee, Paul of Toronto; three daughters, Mrs. Eric (Olive) Bolton of Kitchener, Mrs. Victor (Grace) Rosenberger of Breslau, Mrs. Herbert (Isabel) Frey of Aylmer: two brothers, Abram of East Tawas, Mich., Floyd of Freemont, Ohio, one sister, Catharine Sherk of Grand Rapids, Mich.: 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Ratz-Bechlel Funeral Home, until noon Saturday, when removal will be made to Bethany United Missionary Church, where a funeral service will be conducted by Rev. L. K. Sider, at 3 p.m. Interment will be in First Mennonite Cemetery.
