Notes |
- MULHERON, J. J. was a native son whose name appears in the papers frequently, but there is no evidence that he practised here. He passed the examinations of the University of Toronto in July 1869 and immediately began to practice in Mitchell. He subsequently moved to Detroit.

LEFT BERLIN 43 YEARS AGO
DR. MULHERON, A SUCCESSFUL PHYSICIAN OF DETROIT. SPEAKS OF THE OLDEN DAYS EN BERLIN.
Dr. and Mrs. John Mulheron, of Detroit, Michigan, are guests at the home of Mr. George C. H. Lang, Queen street, north.
Dr. Mulheron is an interesting personage. He has had considerable experience in political life in Detroit, serving a number of years in the city council. He filled the position of president of council besides acting as Mayor during a five months' absence of the Mayor of Detroit. Subsequently he was offered the nomination for Congress on the Republican ticket, which meant sure election but he decided not to accept as it meant removal to Washington. He then retired from public life and is now devoting his entire time to his practice of medicine.
Dr. Mulheron received his early education in Berlin. He attended the Public School when Mr. Thomas Pearce, the present senior Public School Inspector, was principal, and prepared himself for üniversity at the Berlin Grammar School under Principal Cammidge. He left Berlin 43 years ago, and has not been here a since, except to pass through the town. Dr. Mulheron told some interesting reminiscences of his school days at the old grammar school.
Some of his fellow students were John King, K.C., of Toronto; Dr. Bowers of Duluth Mr. Barnabas Devitt of Philadelphia; John Ussher, of Montreal; Mr. John. Thomas Moore, now of Australia, the late William Stanton, and Mr. J. M. I Scully, Waterloo.
Dr. Mulheron, when a young man was on the staff of the Waterloo Chronicle.
