  Mr. J. M. Schmidt Is Called To The Great Beyond Deceased was a native of Switzerland There passed away yesterday afternoon a well known resident of the town and the vicinity when Mr. John M. Schmidt, 102 East Courtland Avenue crossed to the Great Beyond. His death followed a month's illness. Three weeks ago Mr. Schmidt underwent an operation at the local hospital and a week ago he was removed home but big condition gradually became more serious finally terminating in the passing of life. The deceased was born in Frutigen, Berne, Switzerland, on. May 27th 1847, and came to this country over thirty years ago settling at New Hamburg. For some years he farmed near that town. Subsequently he removed to Lisbon and for the last twelve years he resided in this city. He was widely known in this places of former residence and the host of friends in the communities where he has resided including this city, learn of his demise with sorrow. In the hour of bereavement the sorrowing widow and children have the sympathy of citizens. Besides his wife there survive three sons and five daughters who are Aldred Stratford; Edwin and Gottfried, Hamilton; Mrs. Morris, Patterson, Saskatoon; Mrs. S. Pringle, Toronto; Mrs. Edith Dreisbach, Toronto; Mrs. E. Dengis, Hamilton; Miss Alma Schmidt at home. The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon: at the residence and at Ste Matthew's Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
