  John R. "Jack" Deeton Passes A long-time Ayr resident, John R. "Jack" Deeton, passed away at his Northumberland Street home on Sunday. February 1st. He was in his 68th year. Born in Plattsville, Mr. Deeton was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Deeton. He spent his early years in Plattsville and then worked on several farms in the Ayr district. Later he joined the Shirly-Dietrich Company in Galt, working there until retiring about two years ago. For many years he also helped the Davis family part time with their butcher business. Mr. Deeton was a member of Knox United Church. He was an avid lawn bowler and curler. Surviving are his wife, the former Nettie Eddington; a son Cameron of Cochrane, Alberta; a daughter Mrs. David (Marilyn) Drewett of Kitchener; a sister Mrs. Jessie Young of Woodstock: a brother Wilbert of Toronto: also six grandchildren. The funeral will be held today (Wed.) at 1: 30 p.m. at Glendinning Funeral Home, Plattsville. Rev. D. E. Willis of Ayr will officiate. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. The Ayr News 5 Feb 1976 pg 9
