- John T. Larew Is Dead At Age Of 93
Was Former Ottumwa Policeman, Constable
John T. Larew 93, one time Ottumwa policeman and constable, died at his home on Elmsdale avenue at 11:10 a.m. He was the son of William and Mary Larew, was born in Indiana December 29, 1847. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 53 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Flora Harsch of Ottumwa, Mrs. Fannie Huber of Omaha, Mrs. Ethel Anderson of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lucy Mullenix of Tampa and Mrs. Eunice Rowley of Oskaloosa; two sons, Fred of Blakesburg, route 2 and Albert of Ottumwa, 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A brother in Los Angeles and a sister, Melissa of Danville, Illinois, also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy in 1891, in 1899 he remarried to Florence Hibbs, who also preceded him in death in 1915. The body is at Johnson funeral chapel awaiting the completion of arrangements.
