Notes |
- John Durham, who died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1903, was born in that city in 1841, son of Bishop Jeremiah Durham, of the Methodist Episcopal Church. John Durham re ceived his education in Philadelphia and then learned the drug business, being engaged at that occupation for twelve years at Elmira. County Waterloo, Ont. Subsequently he returned to Philadelphia, where he remained until his death.
In 1865, John Durham was married to Miss Annie Willcock, born in Toronto in 1843, daughter of Abel Willcock, and to this union there were born two children: Milina, the widow of L.B. Merritt; and Thomas Herbert, of Toronto, who married Elizabeth Miles. Mr. Durham was a Methodist, and to the faith of that church his widow also adheres. He was fraternally connected with the Masonic order and the Orange men, and he was a Conservative in political opinion.
