- FOERSTER, Joseph A. - Peacefully, on Thursday, April 6, 2006, at his residence, Joseph "Joe" Foerster, in his 84th year, of Elmira. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Doak) Foerster (2003). Dear father of Ann Kurt of Kitchener, Scott Foerster of Elmira and Mary Lynn Foerster of Branchton. Also lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Jennifer and Jason Rolson; his two great-grandsons, Adam and Jeffrey; Dinneane Kurt and her children, Dylan and Trinity and Bonnie Foerster. Brother and brother-in-law of Floyd "Mike" and Marion Foerster of Elmira, Evelyn and Bert Black of Eganville, Marie Reimer of Elmira, Betty and Hugh Tierney, Alex and Margaret Doak, all of England. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Martha (Cassel) Foerster and his brother, Howard. Joe was a "D" Day Veteran of the Second World War, a past president and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 469 Elmira, was employed at Uniroyal Goodrich for over 40 years and was an avid curler at both Elmira and Glenbriar Curling Clubs. At Joe's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral home visitation. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Dr. Linda J. Bell officiating. In his memory, donations to the Legion "Poppy Fund" or Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
