  Irene admitted that this was the scariest time of her life, always living on the edge, always facing the possibility of arrest. Life on the farm was also somewhat risky. Her father, Joseph Harnack, ran a still on the farm and he was lucky to have a pal on the police force who alerted him to planned raids which would have ruined his bootleg operation. He was 87. Born at Breslau, Oct. 3, 1881, Mr. Harnack was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Harnack. He farmed until retiring 16 years ago. Mr. Harnack was a member of St. Boniface RC Church, Maryhill. His wife, the former Johanna Reinhart, died in 1965. Surviving are three sons, Stanley of Hespeler, Edgar of Kitchener and Wilfred of RR 2, Breslau; five daughters, Mrs. George (Catherine) Wilhelm, Mrs. William (Irene) Bitschy and Mrs. George (Ver a) Schnurr, all of Kitchener, Mrs. Norman (Doretta) Bauman, RR 2, Breslau, and Mrs. Ed (Gladys) Bitschy, Maryhill; one brother, Michael of Pinkney, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. Michael (Tillie) Karges and Mrs. Josephine Radke, both of Kitchener, and 50 grandchildren and 50 great - grandchildren. One daughter and four sisters predeceased him. The body is at the Gruhn Funeral Home where the rosary. will be recited Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:15 a.m., followed by requiem high mass at St. Boniface RC Church at 11 a.m. Rev.
