- Joseph L. Wey
Joseph Wey, 52, of 56 Water St. S., a veteran of the First Great War and the present war, passed away at Westminster Hospital, London, Ont., Monday. He had been ill for 11/2 years. Known as "Zep" Wey, he was centre forward on the Rangers soccer team 20 years ago.
A core maker by trade, he served overseas in the First Great War and in the kitchen of the former No. 10 Military, Camp here. He received his discharge around last Christmas. Mr. Wey was born Dec. 29, 1892 at St. Agatha, to the late Linus Wey Sr. and Anna Mary Kittel. He was married in January, 1925, at St. Mary's R.C. Church, which he attended, to the former Violet Day, who survives him.
Also surviving are a son, Joseph Wey, Jr., 56 Water St. S., four brothers, Eugene K. Wey and Linus Wey, Jr., of Kitchener, Peter of London and John of Hamilton and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Agatha) Wilhelm of Kitchener and Mrs. Anna Gray of Detroit. Two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Reinhardt and Mrs. Richard, (Otilla) Vaughn, predeceased him.
