  J. Wallace Gillespie Ayr native, Joseph Wallace (Wally) Gillespie passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener on Friday. December 25, 1992. He was in his 82nd year. Mr. Gillespie was the son of the late Murray Gillespie and Mary Holdaway who were also both born in Ayr. A carpenter by trade, he worked at the former Hilborn factory in Ayr which made hockey sticks, at Shirley-Dietrich in Galt, and for over 40 years at the John Watson Mfg. plant in Ayr. Member and officer of Ayr 1.0.0.F. Lodge and later when it closed joined Princeton 1.0.0.F. Lodge No. 307, Princeton. Member of Ayr Masonic Lodge No. 173, and Knox United Church, Ayr. Survived by his wife Olive Sweet; his brothers Norman and John (Bussy) and his wife Alice, all of Ayr; his sisters Elizabeth (Betty) and her husband Irvin Bowes of Blyth and Margaret Tamon of Auburn, Ontario. Predeceased by brother George of Ayr and sisters Sadie Hamm of Blyth and Florence Hussey of Ayr. Funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 1992 at 1: 30 p.m. Reverend James Young of Knox United Church, Ayr, officiated. Interment Ayr Cemetery. The Ayr News 30 Dec 1992 pg 8
