- BAREHAM, Lawrence James (Lorne)-Peacefully, on Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at St. Mary's General Hospital, after a brief illness and with his family by his side, Lorne Bareham, age 75, of Kitchener.
Lorne was born in Stratford on August 11, 1921 and was the son of the late Herbert and Constance Bareham. Lorne served as Fire Chief in Maryhill for 30 years. He was past president of the Waterloo Regional Mutual Aid Society, Member of the Waterloo Legion Branch No. 530 and served overseas during the Second World War.
Beloved husband of Melvina (Honey Spiegelberg) for 55 years. Dear father to Robert and his wife Betty of Ottawa, Barbara Ann Gurton and her husband John of Kitchener and Brenda Stigter and her husband John of Shakespeare. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Fern Barber and her husband Bruce of Comax, B.C., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents and sister, Margaret Steppler.
Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. when a legion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel, Friday, March 28 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jack Dressler officiating. Reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. Private family burial will take place at Memory Gardens.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Victorian Order of Nurses.
