  PERCY REITZEL One of the most unexpected and saddest deaths in this community for a long time was that of Mr. Percy Reitzel, who unfortunately succumbed from the effects of a blow received on the chin while loading gravel in Mr. John S. Frey's grave-pit east of the village about the noon hour on Tuesday, October 14th. Percy was alone at the time and was about to leave the pit with his load and the supposition is that he was kicked by one of the horses. Mr. C.C. Doerbecker, with whom the young man had worked for several years was soon on the scene and the remains were removed to his home from where the funeral procession was conducted on Thursday afternoon at 1: 30 p.m. to Calvary Evangelical church for services by the Rec. J.C. Morlock. Percy, who was in his twenty-fifth year, had spent his entire life in this vicinity. He was one of the faithful, unassuming, likeable young men, who was dependable seven days in the week, and devoted and consistent in his religious life. He will be missed by his many friends and the sympathy of everyone who knew him is extended to his bereaved relatives. 16 Oct 1924
