- WEILER, Leander "Chester" - Aged 82 years. After many years of suffering, the Lord has called Chester Home, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant, your work is done and I now give you rest". He died peacefully, surrounded by his family, singing hymns of praise and glory, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Tuesday, Dec 10, 1996. Chester will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his personal expressions through music. Even until his death he shared with his family the song, "Show Me The Way To Go Home."
Chester was a lifetime faithful member of St. Boniface RC Church, Maryhill, a member of the Holy Name Society, and the Maryhill Knights of Columbus. He was one of the first members of the Maryhill Volunteer Fire Department and a 40 year member of the local Plaster and Bricklaying Union. He served four years with the Royal Canadian Engineers in the Second World War. Lovingly remembered by his wife and special friend, Lorraine (nee Fehrenbach) of 52 years. Sadly missed with fond memories by his children, Charlie and his wife Judy of Kitchener, Anna and her husband Jerry Liesemer of Edmonton Alta., Mary and her husband Mike Westphal of Kitchener, Patrick and his wife Gail of Maryhill, Helen and her fiance Davide Rinaldo of Vancouver B.C. Whitney and his friend Wendy of Maryhill, and Bill (Winks) and his friend Lois of Maryhill. Grandpa will be missed by Lee-Anne and her husband Scott Barker, Tammy, Janine, Jacquie, Mark, Michele, Kaitlan, Jamie, Nicole and Craig. Survived by one sister, Kathleen Bitschy of Litchener and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by two sisters-in-law Charlotte Weiler of Toronto and Alma Weiler of Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Louise Weiler; brothers, Jerome, Edward, Gordon, Norman, Simon, and Norman; his sister, Marie Brenner and his granddaughter, Tina Louise. Friends and relatives may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10: 15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Boniface RC Church at 11 a.m. Father Ron Voisin officiating. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill.
