- Pte. L.A. Gambling Wounded, France
Pte. Lewis Andrew Gambling, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Gambling, 109 Oak street, Preston, was wounded in action August 31, while on active service in Italy, according to official advice received yeserday from the director of records. Pte. Gambling is known to have been serving with the Perth regiment in Italy for the past year.
The message, which declares that he is in hospital, states that nature and extent of his wounds is not known.
Born in Preston, Pte. Gambling lived here all his life until his enlistment in July, 1940, while he went overseas in October, 1941. He attended local public school and before his enlistment was employed with the Eastern Steel Products.
His father served in the last war and until recently was a member of the Veterans' Guard in this conflict. Pte. Gambling is a member of St. John's Anglican church.
