      STAUNCH CITIZEN SUCCUMBS TO PNEUMONIA

Deceased Had Resided Here Over Forty Years. A Worthy Resident

The citizens were shocked to-day to hear of the demise of one of the community's staunchest residents, Miss Louisa E. Glick, who passed away at 4.30 o'clock this morning at her home, corner of South Queen and St. George Streets after a few days illness of pneumonia.

The sad intelligence of her death was painful to residents, who could hardly give credence to it. Up to a few days ago Miss Glick was able to be around enjoying her usual good health. Up to last Friday Miss Glick was to be seen in her garden and on her lawn, putting these into shape for the season. A cold was contracted in the wet atmosphere and the deceased lady had to take to her bed. The illness became more critical and caused increasing anxiety to those about her.

The late Miss Glick was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Glick, her mother prior to her marriage being Emmeline Marks. She was born in Preston 62 years ago. Her father predeceased her about twenty-five years ago. The mother died about a year ago in this city. About six years ago her only sister, Miss Mary Glick, passed away.

The late Miss Glick came to this city over forty years ago. For many years she, with her late sister, conducted a lucrative millinery business. In her undertakings the deceased lady displayed good business judgement and shrewdness. She was most successful in all her business ventures.

The late Miss Glick was a fine type of citizen. She was known for warm heartedness towards friends and those in need. She was a friend of the poor and many a charitable gift was made by her in her unassuming way. Her death is a distinct loss to the city.

Miss Glick was a lover of flowers and pet animals. Her beautiful home on South Queen Street testifies to her appreciation of horticulture while active support to and good work for the local Humane Society bespeak her love for the pet animal species. All good public enterprises received her endorsation and assistance.

Relatives of the deceased reside in Hamilton, St. George, Buffalo and Detroit. Among those who are here to-day are Mr. Charles Marks and Mrs. Tildon, of Hamilton.

A coincidence is that the mother and sister of the deceased also succumbed to an affliction with pneumonia.

The funeral will be held at 2.30 o'clock Saturday p.m. at the residence and at Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. Mr. Schade, Minister of Benton Street. Baptist Church, will conduct the services.
