Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Lynn Goodwin Bagley, age 66, passed away in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Lynn was born on March 14, 1957 to Royal and Iris Bagley. Being born into a close-knit family, Lynn received all of the love and teasing he could ever need as a child. He would forever cherish the examples of his wonderful parents and siblings. They taught him many valuable life lessons.
One of those lessons was a love for the Savior, and a desire to serve Him. In 1976, Lynn was called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canada Toronto mission. His two years there deepened his love for Jesus Christ, and gave him many skills that would continue to bless his life.
Lynn had a drive for hard work and education. He was an avid reader and could always be seen reading a new book. He would return from his mission and receive a Bachelor's degree from Utah State University, a Master's degree from Brigham Young University, and eventually a Doctorate degree from North Carolina State University. It was in pursuit of education that he met the love of his life, Marilyn Robertson. He knew he married well, and frequently taught his children the importance of "marrying up".
He married Marilyn, daughter of the late Joseph and Donna Robertson, on August 14, 1980 in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity. Lynn would use his work ethic, love for the Lord and life lessons to bless and provide for his family. In their 43 years of marriage, Lynn and Marilyn had five children. They would go on one grand adventure after another moving from: Utah to Cary, North Carolina, to Ontario, Canada to Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Moroni, Utah for 20 years and then eventually to Storm Lake, Iowa. Because of his character traits, everywhere they went, Lynn and Marilyn made friends, blessed and changed the lives of people around them.
His greatest achievement in life was his wife and family. He loved being with them, and he could constantly be found laughing, playing, teasing and helping any of his 17 grandchildren. His stories, life counsel, and love for jokes and funny faces endeared them to him, and he to them.
His love of the Lord continued to give him opportunities to do good as he served in the Church as a counselor in different stake presidencies, a bishop, a branch president, an Elder's quorum president, in stake and ward Young Men presidencies, and ward and branch clerk. He was a powerful teacher of the Gospel, and his counsel has brought many people closer to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Besides the joy of being with family, he found great pride and joy in his work. He was a natural teacher, presenter, and leader. He regularly shared his work ethic and skills with those around him. In the turkey industry, he had a global influence. During his travels around the world, he was able to research, aid, and make himself available to any who needed his help or expertise. He excelled in his career and was eager to help others do the same.
Lynn is survived by his wonderful wife Marilyn, and his children: Kevin Bagley (Blair), Holly Bagley, Scott Bagley (Lisa), Emily Engh (David), and Jacob (Kassidy) Bagley. He was preceded in death by his parents; Royal Andersen and Iris Mary Ellen Bagley, and brother Roger Bagley, and sisters Beth June McArthur, and Janice Nelson.
