  Obituary for Manuel Furtado Carreiro Born June 25, 1940, passed away peacefully in his home May 5, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. Loving husband of 45 years to wife Ruth Ann (Hagley). Manuel immigrated from S. Miguel, Azores in 1959 and began his textile career sweeping floors at the company he would one day successfully own and operate, Waterloo Textiles Limited. Proud father to his four daughters, Cynthia (Martin), Jennifer (Jeff), Darlene and Gloria (Sam). Loving Papa to his five grandchildren Alycia, Ryan, Jackson, Riley and Serena. Predeceased by his parents Manuel and Maria, brother Jose, sister Maria, mother and father-in-law Helen and Russell Hagley. Manuel is survived by his brothers, Jaime (Manuela), Tony (Teresa) and Daniel (Romana), and many nieces and nephews. Manuel will be remembered for his many kindnesses, ready smile and off beat sense of humour. He's been a great friend and employer to many and will be greatly missed by us all. Manuel's family will welcome friends at the Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 16 Cooper Street on Monday morning at 11 am. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
