    • Milt Schmidt, Ex-Wilmot Reeve, Dies

      BADEN - Milton A. Schmidt, 73, a former municipal official of Wilmot Township for 33 years, died Saturday at the K-W Hospital. He had been ill since May.

      Mr. Schmidt was born in Wilmot and farmed near Wellesley before moving to Baden in 1948. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Schmidt.

      He had served as reeve of Wilmot for six years. Before that he was deputy reeve and was a councilor until his retirement last December. He had also been a member of the K-W Hospital Commission and the Wilmot Agricultural Society.

      Mr. Schmidt was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wellesley of the church board and of the Lutheran Laymen's League.

      He is survived by two sons, Howard of Baden, and Wallace of RR2, Wellesley, two daughters, Mrs. Oscar 9Helen) Wagner of Wellesley, and Mrs. Howard (Ruth) Neeb, RR4, Stratford, a brother Edison, New Hamburg, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Elizabeth Reibling, predeceased him in September last year.

      The body is at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Ronald Reisdorf Tuesday at 2:30 pm at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, ?Wellesley. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The casket will remain open at the church until the time of the service.
