Notes |
- Tony Matlock of Kitchener phoned to say he helped to launch Washerama in downtown Kitchener in 1958 with partners Ralph Meyer and Howard Davis. It sold washing machines and home appliances. The name, he said, was a spin on the General Motors "Motorama" held at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto.
One of the firm's early challenges, Matlock said, was that it didn't have the rights to sell Electrohome products. It found a solution in the early 1960s by buying Good Appliances (owner Newton Good) at 74 King St. S., Waterloo, which did hold an Electrohome franchise.
