  DOWNEY, Norbert M. - On Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital. Norbert Downey in his 69th year of Elmira. Beloved husband of Agnes (Schuett) Downey for 42 years. Dear father of Tim Downey and Christopher Castle of Victoria, Ann Marie Downey and Wayne Steenbeek of Calgary, Joe Downey and Jen Barr of Nanaimo, Marlene and Scott Weber of St. Jacobs, Jacqueline Downey and Halldor Gunnerson of Victoria and Tony Downey and Jillian Long of Calgary. Proud grandpa and pal of Jake and Shannon Weber, Megan and Jordan Steenbeek and Isaac Barr. Norbert will be greatly missed by Patsy and Clare Logel of Maryhill, Terrence and Margaret Downey of Calgary, Rosemary Downey of Elora, Mary and Ercole Campagnaro of Guelph, Helen and Fred Synnott of Guelph, Dorothy Schuett and Jim Wright of Walkerton, Vera and Tony Al Kotaba of Guelph, Bill and Martha Schuett of Guelph. Norbert will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, Bill Downey (1993) and Margaret (Jordan) Downey (1978); his niece, Kerry Louise Logel; his nephew, Dennis Boyle and his brother-in-law, bill Boyle. Bert was a loyal employee of Home Hardware for 42 years, past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a proud member of A. A. since 1972, sponsoring and encouraging many individuals and their families in their journey to sobriety. Norbert will be missed by his family and many friends for his humour, generosity and amazing gift of touching the hearts and lives of those around him. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Saturday from 1-4 pm only and on Sunday from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, Elmira on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11 am with Father Jim Valk C.R. officiating; followed by cremation. Knights of Columbus services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm. Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 pm.
