ELMIRA - Norman Schmermund, 73, died at the Royal Alexander Hospital, Edmonton, Sunday. He was formerly of Elmira. He was born near Elmira, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Schmermund. Following the death of his first wife, Emma Borth, in 1914, he moved to Spruce Grove, Alta. In 1916, he married the former Ida Schumm, and farmed at Spruce Grove until 12 years ago when he moved to Edmonton where he entered the carpentering trade.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Gordon and Roy of Calahoo, Alta., and John of Edmonton; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Erma) Heichel and Mrs. Oliver (Ada) Schaefer, both of Edmonton; a sister, Mrs. Jacob Geiger of Drayton. There are also seven grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be in Edmonton.
