  Laverne Knechtel - N. Laverne Knechtel of 43 McDougall Ave., Waterloo, died today at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Stratford, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Knechtel and had lived in the Twin Cities for the past 40 years. Mr. Knechtel had been a sales representative for Uniroyal Co. Ltd., textile division, for 45 years, retiring in 1960. Later he represented Islandcraft of Toronto. He was a member of Zion United Church and the church session. Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Wagner; one daughter, Margaret, Toronto, and one sister, Mrs. Irvin (Grace) Schultz, Kitchener. A private family service will be conducted at the Ratz-BechtelFuneral Home by Rev. F.M. Faist of Zion United Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
