Notes |
- Mrs. George T. Hosie
The townspeople were deeply grieved on Monday morning to learn that Mrs. George T. Hosie, wife of the principal of the New Hamburg High School, died on Sunday evening at the K.-W. Hospital.
The deceased was born in Chesterville, Dundas County, on August 29th, 1916, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Gillard. She spent her girlhood days in that village and after her marriage to her now bereaved husband, resided in Harrow from where they came to New Hamburg last September when Mr. Hosie assumed the principalship of the local High School. The late Mrs. Hosie was a devout adherent of the United Church.
She leaves in deep bereavement her husband, a son Thomas, aged 3, a daughter, Karen, aged 2, and an infant daughter, born on Sunday, besides her parents, a brother, Burt, and a sister, Miss Doreen Gillard, all of Chesterville.
The remains rested at the Becker Funeral Home until Wednesday morning when they were taken on the early morning train to Chesterville where the funeral service and interment took place.

Funeral of Mrs. Hosie
The funeral of the late Mrs. G. T. Hosie was held at Chesterville, her home town, last Wednesday, where her many friends were deeply shocked to hear of her death. The funeral service was held in Trinity United Church, which was crowded. Rev. H. E. Warren, Ottawa, former pastor, conducted the services in the absence of Rev. R. C. Tait, who is a patient in hospital. The choir was under the leadership of P. G. Hewitt, the organist, and Mrs. Allison Graham sang "A Prayer". Among the many floral offerings were those from Dr. and Mrs. Kirkpatrick, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ament, High and Public School teaching staffs, New Dominion Lodge, A.F. and A.M, School Board and the Student Body of New Hamburg.
