- Mrs. James Codling
Esteemed Ayr Resident Passes Away on Sunday Mrs. James Codling, an esteemed resident of this village, passed to her reward on Sunday morning at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Dalzell, where she had been making her home.
The late Mrs. Codling, whose maiden name was Orrie Menzie, was in her 76th year. She had been an invalid for the past four years, but had been confined to her bed for only two weeks.
Born on the East River road, near Glenmorris, she spent all her life in that neighborhood until corning to Ayr in 1910. She was married shortly alter coming here. A member of Knox United Church, she took a keen interest in mission work , and her kindly, helpful disposition made her many friends. She was the last surviving member of her family. Her husband predeceased her nine years ago.
Surviving are one stepson, E. C. Codling, Fergus, and one step-daughter, Mrs. Alfred Coles, Port Colborne. Mrs. James A. Dalzell and Miss M. Blain of Ayr are cousins of the deceased.
There was a large attendance at the funeral which took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, many relatives and old friends being present from the St. George, Glenmorris and Paris districts. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie, pastor of Knox United Church, assisted by Rev. Mr. Elliott, Baptist minister of St. George, a cousin of the deceased. The pall-bearers were: Jas. G. Fair, Thomas Hall, Karl Rybicki, Wm. Woolsey, R. K. Cowan and A. G. Watson.
