Of Drayton, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, at Palmerston and District Hospital, on Thursday, Sept. 23, 1993, at the age of 56 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Jean Kemkes; dearest father of Margaret and her husband Steve Vogel of RR 2, Moorefield, Daryl and his fiancee Janet Zandbelt and Darlene, all of Drayton; special grandpa of Nathan, Lorie and Kristy Vogel; beloved brother of Shirley and her husband Richard Schiedel of Cambridge, Dorothy Martin of Baden, Don Brodhaecker and his wife Lynn of Cambridge and Jean and her husband Terry Rickert of Mannheim; brother-in-law of Jessie and Ken Jessop of Orton, David and Lucille Kemkes of Branchton and Dan and Eleanor Shantz of Petersburg; son-in-law of Bessie Kemkes of Cambridge. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Ethel (Fried) and Harry Brodhaecker; his step-mother, Cleo (Wanner) Brodhaecker and his brother-in-law, Harold Martin. Orville took a very active part in many church and community activities. He was past president of the Drayton Agriculture Society and the Wellington County Plowmen's Association. He was the director for Wellington County on the Ontario Plowmen's Association, Past Elder and Steward of Drayton United Church, former 4-H Club Leader, Past Director on the Wellington County Milk Committee and a former member of the Drayton Curling Club. The family will receive friends at the Heritage Funeral Home, Drayton on Saturday evening, Sept. 25, from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 26, 1993, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rev. Fred Hagle and Rev. Paul Ellingham will conduct the funeral service in the Drayton United Church on Monday, Sept. 27, 1993, at 2 p.m. Interment in Drayton Cemetery.
