- Owen S. Bechtel of RR 2, Kitchener, died today at the K-W Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 80. Born in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah Bechtel, he farmed in the township until his retirement in 1952. He was a member of Mannheim Mennonite Church. His first wife, the former Melissa Knechtel, died in 1936. Survivors include his second wife, the former Margaret Gingerich; five sons, Clinton of Kitchener, Leonard of Doon, Delfred of Baden, Eldon of Preston, and Lloyd of Doon; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Elsie) Eby, Petersburg, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary June) Willsie, Kitchener and Mrs. David (Avon) Burkholder, Edmonton; a brother Eden, Kitchener; four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Knarr, Preston, Mrs. John (Ida) Shantz, Breslau, Mrs. Edna Lugibihl, Pandora, Ohio, and Mrs. Roy (Nettie) Snider, Milverton; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ruby, in 1939 and by two sisters and two brothers. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home from noon Friday until noon Saturday. The service will be conducted at the Mannheim Mennonite Church at 3 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Gordon Bauman. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Donations to the Ontario Mennonite Mission Board will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

Owen S. Bechtel
Owen S. Bechtel of RR 2, Kitchener, died last Thursday at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital at the age of 80.
Born in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah Bechtel, he farmed in the township until his retirement in 1952. He was a member of Mannheim Mennonite Church.
His first wife, the former Melissa Knechtel, died in 1936.
